
Senior Mental Health Lead Training
Social Work Projects is pleased to announce the 2021 programme of Training to be Senior Mental Health Lead in your school. The course is DFE approved and eligible for full Government Funding. It is also accredited with CPD and certificates will be issued to participants who complete the successfully. All trainers are qualified mental health professionals.
Course Objectives
Creating a whole school or college approach to mental health and wellbeing and understand the role and expectations of a mental health lead role
The importance of collecting and assessing data to support implementation of a whole school or college approach.
What is existing best practice in schools and colleges, and the benefits of sharing practice and experiences to sustaining an effective whole school or college approach.
The importance of working effectively with the senior leadership team, Governors, parents/carers and pupils, and with staff in mandatory roles such as SENCOs, Designated Safeguarding Leads, teachers and Virtual School Heads to deliver a whole school or college approach.
Learn about the factors leading to lead strategic change and implementing an effective whole school or college approach.
The importance of how the mental health lead role fits with the wider mental health system to be able to make best use of mental health support services across the NHS, their Local Authority and Voluntary and Community Sector partners.

All courses run from 9:30am to 4:30pm with a break for lunch

Courses are restricted to a maximum of 6 attendees so that comprehensive and insightful training can be achieved
Following the successful completion of the course each school Senior Mental Health Lead will receive 3 hours of 1-1 support and supervision relating to the establishing of an action plan for their school. This is further supplemented by access to the Senior Mental Health Leadership Network which will contain resources and a forum for confidentially discussing matters regarding this important feature of school life.
The agreed fee for attending this course is £600+VAT. This includes the training, issuing of certificates, 3 hours of 1-1 support and supervision and access to the Network. Fees are fully covered by the government funding, DFE will have advised schools on the process for securing the funding.
